THE MAN OF ART HEALING THERAPY
At the early age of eight, at the behest of his loving father, Richard Laurent began taking art lessons from Artist, Lazard Luckner. A decade later at the age of eighteen, Richard’s mother handed him a guitar and he began his professional career performing locally and internationally as EARTHMAN! Richard’s talent has enabled him to perform for HBO’s Pledge of Allegiance, entire original scores and for the History Channels-History Mystery program, along with numerous TV and radio commercials ranging from The Goodwill Games to Citibank and Oil of Olay.
At the age of forty-five, a transformation from music to music and art began for Richard as a result of his father falling ill. Richard learned that his father’s dream was for the world to see his art unfold – hence his first piece was born, entitled, “Now I Can See.” The immense connection between Richard and his father’s consciousness is the result of all the work that has been on exhibition and his ability to help others heal through art. Richard has created paintings that become portals into other realms and invites the viewer to participate in a spiritual experience. It is the spiritual experience and color combinations that have literally helped to heal 1,000’s.
THE BIG QUESTION – HOW DOES ART HEAL?
Scientific studies have shown us that art heals through changing a person’s physiology and attitude. The body can change from a state of stress to one of relaxation or from a state of fear to one of creativity an inspiration. Art allows a person to have a different brain wave pattern, fully affecting a person’s autonomic nervous system as well as an individuals hormonal balance and brain neurotransmitters.
Every cell in our bodies are instantly affected through colors, which in turn instantly creates a healing physiology that changes blood flow and boosts the immune system – affecting all cells in the body. Along with the health benefits, art and music also immediately changes our perceptions of their world. Both change attitudes, emotional states, and pain perception.
Art is also used to help people cope with difficult times and is used more recently as a coping mechanism in rehabilitation facilities, hospitals and senior care facilities – among others. Art is often used to transform a person’s outlook and way of being in the world.
Colors help aid healing and are deeply connected with feeling and meaning, along with being associated with the same brain wave patterns and mind/body changes, taking us into our inner world – the world of imagery and emotion, of visions and feelings. The inward journey is considered to be one within our spirit, soul and mind – which is where deep healing initially takes place. When healing comes from within our immune system operates with top efficiency and the healing that occurs is natural and more profound.
